We’re excited to welcome Austin D. Nguyen, Associate, to our team.
Austin joined JSS Barristers in 2025 and has a general civil litigation practice, with a particular interest in intellectual property law, including plant breeders’ rights, copyright, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, and designs. His practice also focuses on employment law, class actions, public and regulatory matters, privacy, product liability, and defamation and communications.
Prior to joining JSS Barristers, Austin articled with and practiced at a multinational law firm, where he gained experience in IP prosecution, IP-related transactions, and litigation.
Austin earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Master of Science in Biochemistry, and Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary. During law school, he worked on faculty research in patent law and legal ethics, participated in moot competitions, and was awarded Top Oralist in the Bennett Jones Cup in Health Law Advocacy.
Austin is actively involved in the community and currently volunteers with the Court of King’s Bench Amicus program. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Salingpusa Creatives, a Calgary-based arts and culture non-profit.
