An avid skier, Maureen has been a volunteer ski instructor with the Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing (CADS). In addition, she has served on the Board of Directors of Between Friends, a local charitable organization which organizes and facilitates social and recreational programs for persons with disabilities.

Personal Injury Litigation
Since joining JSS Barristers in 2007, Maureen McCartney-Cameron has focused her practice almost exclusively on plaintiff-side personal injury and long-term disability litigation. In doing so, she has appeared as counsel before all levels of Court in Alberta.
Originally from Northwestern Ontario, Maureen holds degrees from the University of Western Ontario (1994, BA, Hons. (Gold Medalist); St. Andrews University, Scotland (1996, M.Litt, with distinction), and the University of Ottawa (2000, LL.B., Magna Cum Laude). While studying to become a lawyer, Maureen gained legal work experience in Ontario, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Awards and Recognitions
Maureen was recently recognized by Best Lawyers for her work in Personal Injury Litigation.
Maureen is a Past President of the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association (ACTLA), which advocates for a strong civil justice system that protects the rights of all Albertans. She is also Past Chair of the Personal Injury Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association – Alberta. In addition, she has served as a volunteer facilitator with the Legal Education Society of Alberta’s "CPLED" Bar Admission Course and is a presently a volunteer lawyer with Pro Bono Law Alberta. She has also served on the Credentials and Education Committee of the Law Society of Alberta.
Maureen is a frequent contributor to continuing legal education seminars, and has presented at, and provided academic papers for, programs facilitated by ACTLA and the Legal Education Society of Alberta, among other forums.
She continues to be a Member of the Law Society of Ontario and remains on the Roll of Solicitors for England & Wales.
Outside of work, Maureen may be found riding the rails with her train-loving son; cheering on her daughter at dance competitions; or walking with her husband near water, preferably the north shore of Lake Superior in Northwestern Ontario; the Fife Coast of the North Sea in Scotland; or the Central Pacific Coast of California.
