Charlotte Kelso

Charlotte joined JSS Barristers as an Associate in 2025. She has a broad civil litigation practice, with a particular interest in administrative law and regulatory matters.

Education

Charlotte earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law in 2024. During law school, Charlotte volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada and served as a Law Ambassador for the Faculty of Law, supporting prospective students through the admission process. From 2023-2024, she held the position of Vice President of Administration for the Society of Law Students. In her final year, Charlotte participated in the Laskin Moot focusing on administrative and constitutional law issues.

Charlotte holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of British Columbia.

Experience

Before joining JSS Barristers, Charlotte practiced primarily in municipal and public law. Prior to law school, she worked in the technology sector as a Project Manager and Coordinator, contracting with clients across industries including government and energy. Her earlier experience includes working at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.  

Personal

Charlotte is originally from British Columbia, but also lived in England and California growing up. Having moved to Calgary in 2019, she considers the city home and continues to enjoy exploring the local food scene and hiking in the nearby Rockies. In her spare time, she loves to run, strength train, and spend time with her friends and husband.

Community

Committed to community engagement, Charlotte most recently volunteered with Calgary Community Court program, assisting Calgary’s vulnerable population in addressing bylaw tickets.
