Brianne Wheat

Brianne Wheat joined JSS Barristers as an Associate in 2026. Prior to joining the firm, she articled with and practiced at a national law firm, where she gained experience in civil litigation, insurance litigation and coverage disputes, professional negligence, construction litigation, and a range of other matters.

Education

Prior to attending law school, Brianne completed a Bachelor of Secondary Education. During her legal studies, Brianne worked as a research student focusing on constitutional law and Indigenous self-governance. She also competed in the Laskin Moot, which centers on constitutional and administrative law issues.

Personal

Outside of the office, Brianne enjoys exploring Calgary’s food scene and experimenting with recipes of her own. A classically trained violinist, she is also a self-taught fiddler and plays in a family “barn dance” band, where she combines her formal training with a love of traditional music. On weekends, Brianne often makes the trip to her family’s farm to spend time with her family and visit their animals. She also enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors.

Community

During law school, she volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada on an Elder Law project. She has also volunteered at senior centres and served as a volunteer violinist, helping raise funds for various charitable organizations. In addition, the volunteers with the Court of King's Bench Amicus Program, assisting individuals navigating the court system.
