Grant’s practice focuses on a variety of areas with an emphasis on construction disputes. Drawing on his legal and engineering backgrounds, Grant brings a practical understanding of complex technical issues and helps clients navigate disputes efficiently and strategically. Before joining JSS Barristers in 2026, Grant practised with a national and a regional law firm in Calgary and completed an in-house secondment with Shell Canada.
Education
Grant obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta, where he was awarded the Rhonda Zacharias Memorial Award, an award which highlights community service and academic standing.
Prior to law school, Grant earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Co-op) from the University of Alberta with excellent academic standing. Through the co-op program, he worked with PCL, Ledcor, and EllisDon on a variety of construction projects across Western Canada, including to spend months on project sites in rural Alberta and Kitimat, British Columbia. Grant’s industry experience provides valuable skills for his work advising clients in a variety of highly technical disputes.
Personal
Grant has been an avid pianist since age 6 and recently began to write music. He also enjoys researching and visiting sites that house intriguing geographical phenomena, particularly active volcanoes. As such, in his free time, Grant can be found watching geography documentaries and playing piano.
Community
Since 2025, Grant has been a Volunteer Coach with Special Olympics Bowling, which is an inclusive sport that gives individuals with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to train, compete, and build friendships through bowling.
