Emily Amirkhani

Emily Amirkhani joined JSS Barristers in 2022, having previously articled and worked as an Associate at a large national law firm, practicing in corporate commercial litigation. Emily has represented clients in the Court of Justice and at the Court of King’s Bench, and has participated in a number of large arbitrations.

Emily practices in most areas of civil litigation, including administrative, public and regulatory law, corporate and commercial litigation, defamation and communications, employment law, constitutional and charter rights, professional negligence and discipline, and construction law.

Education

Emily attended the University of Victoria Faculty of Law, where she was a recipient of the G. Allan Higenbottam Prize for the highest standing in the Law, Legislation and Policy course. Prior to attending law school, she attended the University of Toronto, majoring in Sociology and Ethics.

Community

Emily volunteers with Skipping Stone Foundation’s Trans ID Clinic, where she helps gender non-conforming folks to navigate the application requirements to change their name and sex identifiers on government documentation.

Personal

In her spare time, Emily enjoys camping, hiking and spending time with her dog, Mila.
