Lauren Tyrell

Lauren Tyrell is an Associate at JSS Barristers with a passion for advocacy and a focus on delivering practical and efficient outcomes for her clients.

Education

Lauren obtained her Juris Doctor from Thompson Rivers University in 2024. During law school, she received the Dean’s Course Prize in both Class Actions and Trusts for achieving the highest overall grade in each course. Lauren was also the 2023 recipient of the Guild Yule LLP Advocacy Prize, for demonstrating excellence and outstanding performance in Advanced Advocacy.

Prior to law school, Lauren Attended the University of Western Ontario, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminology, and a Diploma in Critical Security Studies (Dean’s Honor List).

Experience

Lauren maintains a broad civil litigation practice and regularly acts in complex disputes across a wide range of industries and subject matters. Her experience includes contractual and construction disputes, corporate and commercial litigation, class actions, securities and shareholder matters, and insolvency proceedings, as well as related injunctive and appellate work.

Lauren has represented clients before administrative tribunals, the Alberta Securities Commission, the Alberta Court of Justice, and the Alberta Court of King’s Bench. She approaches her practice with a client-focused mindset, emphasizing efficiency, practicality, and effective advocacy.

Personal

Originally from Ontario, Lauren spends most of her spare time engaging with the city’s vibrant cultural scene. Outside of practice, she enjoys getting lost in the nearby Rockies. As an avid animal lover, Lauren has volunteered as a foster with various animal rescue organizations and can often be found taking in temporary stray or pet sitting for colleagues and friends. She values community involvement and is committed to making meaningful contributions through both her legal practice and volunteer efforts.
