JSS Barristers would like to congratulate our partner Oliver Ho who has been appointed to the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta. We are incredibly proud of Oliver and wish him the very best as he begins this new and exciting chapter.
“I am honoured to have been appointed to the Bench, and while I am sad to leave JSS Barristers, which has been my second home for nearly 20 years, I look forward to serving our community in this new way.” said Oliver Ho.
Oliver joined JSS Barristers in 2004. His practice included corporate and commercial litigation, shareholder disputes, franchise litigation, estate litigation, administrative law, and class action lawsuits. He served on JSS Barristers’ Executive Committee, and as the firm’s Managing Partner from 2022 to 2024.
Oliver has been recognized for his hard work and dedication to the profession. In 2019, he was included in Benchmark Litigation’s Top 40 and Under Hot List, and in 2020, he was ranked by Lexpert as a Lawyer to Watch. That same year he was awarded The Advocates’ Society Alberta’s Excellence in Mentoring Award. He’s been ranked as a Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation since 2021, ranked by Lexpert in 2023 as Repeatedly Recommended in the area of Commercial Litigation and as a Leading Energy Lawyer in its Special Edition: Energy. He was also recognized by Best Lawyers in 2024 in the categories of Trusts and Estates, and Professional Malpractice Law.
Throughout his career, Oliver has actively volunteered with many legal and community organizations as well as the University of Calgary.
