We’re delighted to welcome Brianne Wheat, Associate, to the JSS Barristers team.

Brianne joined JSS Barristers in 2026. Prior to joining the firm, she articled with and practiced at a national law firm, where she gained experience in civil litigation, insurance litigation and coverage disputes, professional negligence, construction litigation, and a range of other matters.

Before attending law school, Brianne completed a Bachelor of Secondary Education. During her legal studies, she worked as a research student focusing on constitutional law and Indigenous self-governance, and competed in the Laskin Moot, which centers on constitutional and administrative law issues.

Outside of the office, Brianne enjoys exploring Calgary’s food scene and experimenting with recipes of her own. A classically trained violinist, she is also a self-taught fiddler and plays in a family “barn dance” band, combining her formal training with a love of traditional music. She also enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors, and visiting her family’s farm on weekends.

Brianne has also been actively involved in her community through volunteer work. During law school, she volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada on an Elder Law project, supported senior centres, and performed as a volunteer violinist at charitable fundraising events. In addition, she volunteers with the Court of King’s Bench Amicus Program, assisting individuals navigating the court system.
